What’s Your Plan B, if You Can’t Age in Place?

Series for boomers/seniors concludes with panel discussion of alternatives

Aging in Place speaker Jim DeLaura(VIERA, FL)  April 4, 2017 –  One Senior Place concludes its Aging in Place series, with Plan B: Where Will You Live if You Can’t Stay at Home?, a look at the variety of alternatives for seniors and boomers on Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 PM at the Viera marketplace for senior resources at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road.  Sponsored by Whittaker-Cooper Financial Group and One Senior Place University, the event will feature a panel discussion with senior industry professionals and contingency plans for Aging in Place.  Registered Nurse, Lisa Conway will discuss the criteria for selecting the appropriate senior living option; Elder Law Attorney, Bill Johnson will address Medicaid and the benefits available for veterans; and Financial Advisor, Jim DeLaura will talk about long-term care insurance and financial readiness.  At the conclusion of the individual presentations, the panel will open the floor for a general question and answer session.  Plan B: Where Will You Live if You Can’t Stay at Home? is part of the Aging in Place series, designed for those who want to live at home independently, comfortably and safely throughout retirement.  Attendees to Plan B: Where Will You Live if You Can’t Stay at Home? will also receive a free soft-bound resource and planning guide created in collaboration with the Center for Innovative Care in Aging at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.  Refreshments and a prize drawing will be provided by Whittaker-Cooper Financial Group, which maintains a satellite office at One Senior Place in Viera.  Attendees are encouraged to call (321) 751-6771 and RSVP for the event to reserve seating and free resource materials.  For more information about One Senior Place, The Experts in Aging, visit their website at www.OneSeniorPlace.com or call (321) 751-6771.

One Senior Place Director, Kathi Ridner, thinks Plan B: Where Will You Live if You Can’t Stay at Home? is the logical conclusion for the current season of the popular seminar series for seniors and boomers.

“Everyone wants to stay in their own home for as long as they possibly can,” said Ridner.  “But a health issue, mobility challenge or cognitive decline may simply rule out living alone.  What then?  What do you choose and how? Those are the questions we’ll be addressing, so that seniors and boomers can have a contingency plan for Aging in Place.

The term “Aging in Place” refers to the life strategy preferred by many seniors, who wish to remain in their homes independently, comfortably and safely throughout retirement — at age 50, 60, 70, 80 and beyond.
