From the creators of Cabaret and Chicago, comes Curtains the Musical, a musical-theatre parody of “whodunnit” classics, opening Friday, November 8 at the Surfside Playhouse in Cocoa Beach. Set in Boston in 1959, the action starts in a theatre where a cast is taking their bows on opening night. Just as the curtain falls, so does the profoundly untalented leading lady. Assigned to the case, Detective Cioffi, played by Rob Kenna, doesn’t just investigate the murder–he also offers advice and insight into improving the production before it reopens with a new leading lady. Hilarity ensues as he tries to find the killer — and put on a killer show. Suspects abound, including the brash producer (played by Karen Monks), the leading lady’s replacement (Jennifer Jesseman) and the composer (Chris Tsocanos).

Under the direction of Bryan Bergeron, Curtains the Musical will run for three weekends, from November 8 through November 24. With plenty of belly laughs and classic musical theatre song-and-dance numbers, Curtains the Musical is suitable for all ages. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 PM, Sunday matinees are at 2:00 PM.  A special 2:00 PM Saturday matinee has been added on November 23.

Adult tickets to all shows are $25, Senior/Military/Student tickets are $22. Children 12 and under are $10. Tickets are available at the door or through the theatre website at www.SurfsidePlayhouse.org. The 250-seat Surfside Playhouse, “Where the Beach Meets the Stage,” is west on South Fifth Street from Highway A1A and located at 301 Ramp Road in Cocoa Beach, at the northwest corner of Brevard Avenue and Ramp Road.
