Speaker Bio: Fernando Montalvo is a McKnight Doctoral Fellow in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology PhD Program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. As a member of the Technology and Aging Lab for the past 6 years, his primary research interests include human-robot interaction in the context of loneliness in older adults, as well as exploring how loneliness affects social perception. Fernando also conducts other research, including meanings of loneliness and older adult-technology interaction. Fernando holds an M.A. in Applied Experimental and Human Factors Psychology, B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Anthropology from UCF, as well as a B.S. in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He has worked in the aviation, landscape contracting, medical, and academic industries in three different countries.
