On Sunday, March 8 at 3:30 PM, Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach, aka The Music Church, will present the Lord Nelson Mass, as part of the 2019-20 Dr. Vernon Boushell Concert Series at 3400 N. Atlantic Avenue (A1A).  The Lord Nelson Mass will feature the musical talents of the Riverside Chamber Orchestra and Chorale under the direction of Richard Sabino, as well as soloists Beth Green, soprano; Connie Maltby, mezzo-soprano; Clive Gay, tenor and James Seidel, bass.  Haydn composed the Mass for Troubled Times at the peak of his artistic reputation in August 1798, although his world was in turmoil. Napoleon had won four major battles with Austria in less than a year.  It came to be known as the Lord Nelson Mass because of Lord Nelson’s victory over Napoleon shortly before the completion of the work. Ms. Green, who is also a choral director, prepared the 35 singers of the Riverside Chorale for the concert in Latin.
