Audiences are in for a visit from the spirit of Christmases past, when the Melbourne Community Orchestra dips into their 30-year archive of holiday favorites to present two concerts of Holiday Celebrations at 7:30 PM on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, December 4 & 5 at the Melbourne Auditorium at 625 Hibiscus Boulevard, 32901.

The two evenings will contain a sleighful of orchestral favorites, including Around the World at Christmas Time, a medley of holiday songs from Germany, Poland, England, Italy, Israel, France and the USA. Also on tap are Christmas songs featured in movies like Miracle on 34th Street, Polar Express, Nightmare Before Christmas and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The audience will get a chance to sing along with the nostalgic favorite, “White Christmas,” while Maestro Nelson will once again perform the classic that’s become an annual tradition, “The Christmas Song.” And no performance from the orchestra would be complete without a rendition of Leroy Anderson’s playful, “Sleigh Ride.”

Admission to Holiday Celebrations and all Melbourne Community Orchestra concerts is FREE. The 50-member group conducted by Mark Nelson is the Orchestra in Residence for the City of Melbourne.  Call 321-285-6724 or visit MCOrchestra.org for more information or to sign up for concert alerts.
