‘Gospel Blues & BBQ’ Starts March 1 at the Advent Lutheran Church

Melbourne Beach Sundays in Lent have got a case of the blues — and they just got paired with barbeque. That’s the plan at Advent Lutheran Church at 1805 Oak Street, where church leaders will present Gospel Blues & BBQ on all five Sunday evenings in March, beginning on March 1.

The free 5:00 PM BBQ dinner will feature pulled pork on buns, coleslaw and traditional “fixings” with dessert in the Fellowship Hall, followed by a 6:00 PM worship service in the church sanctuary with the live blues band, Non-Fiction. No reservations are needed and children are welcome. The band is led by bass guitar player and Senior Pastor, David Jahn, who toured with a Christian rock band for 10 years and is a former sound engineer.  The liturgy for the Gospel Blues service was written by Jahn and provides an intriguing approach to worship during the time of Lenten period of reflection. Lent is the six-week period of repentance preceding Easter in the Christian calendar.
