Flutes Create a ‘Winter Wonderland Christmas’

It won’t include fluffy, white snow, but the Space Coast Flute Orchestra is aiming for a Winter Wonderland Christmas right here in Brevard on Sunday, December 15 at 3:00 PM at Suntree United Methodist Church in north Melbourne.  The free concert at 7400 N. Wickham Road, 32940 will bring to mind all that’s wonderful about the holiday season, with a selection of songs arranged for flutes under the direction of Susan McQuinn, Conductor.

One of the largest regularly rehearsed flute orchestras in the U.S.,  the Space Coast Flute Orchestra will perform selections that create a Winter Wonderland Christmas, including the “Winter” movement of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, the “Nutcracker Suite” from Tchaikovsky’s ballet, the “March of Toys” from Babes In Toyland, “I Wish You Christmas” by John Rutter, Handel’s immortal, “Hallelujah Chorus” and more. The flute orchestra of over 30 flutists will perform on the piccolo and the standard concert or C-Flute, as well as the more exotic alto, bass and contrabass members of the flute family.
