On Saturday, October 12 at 7:30 PM, the doors at Eastminster Presbyterian Church will close and a rare chamber concert will begin, featuring Dutch pianist, Frederic Voorn.  Voorn, who has performed in concert halls on four continents, will concertize in Orlando and give a master class at the University of Central Florida, after presenting an exciting local program of works from Mozart and Chopin. Sponsored by the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, the chamber program, which also includes several works by Voorn, will feature the acclaimed pianist and composer performing alongside musicians from the orchestra.  His “Elegy for Piano and Clarinet” will feature principal clarinetist, Jennifer Royals, while SCSO string musicians (who also play regularly as part of the Fernwood Quartet), will perform Voorn’s three-movement String Quartet.  One of the most exciting pianists and composers working today, Frederic Voorn studied piano at the Dutch music conservatories of Amsterdam and Utrecht, before continuing his studies in London and Moscow. For 12 years, his weekly performances were broadcast by Dutch Radio 4. Voorn has recorded several CDs for record label Ezra Classics, including one of his own piano compositions. At the moment he is working on an opera about the legendary impresario for the Ballets Russes, Sergei Diaghilev. Frederic Voorn lives in Amsterdam, is married and has two sons. The concert is free, with a suggested donation of $15 to $20. For more information, call toll free to 855-252-7276 or visit www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org.
