At a time when people are searching for a way back to civility and gratitude, local interfaith organizers have an answer: United in Thanksgiving.  Members from 25 Brevard faith organizations and traditions will come together for a celebration of gratitude on Monday, November 25 at 7:00 PM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic to share music, food and reflect on the blessings of America. Centered on gratitude, attendees will focus on affirming shared values and the desire for deeper cultural understanding.  Believers and seekers of all faiths from the general public are welcome to attend the one-hour United in Thanksgiving event at 3050 Highway A1A in Indialantic.

Readings by multiple faith representatives will answer the question, “Why do we gather in unity and gratitude?,” explore how to move beyond tolerance to celebration, and consider how to take the message of unity and gratitude to the world.  An interdenominational choir will come together to sing “Draw the Circle Wide” and a youth roundtable will posit a future that transcends religious and cultural differences. Those in attendance can join a discussion that will explore the link between gratitude and unity and sing “America the Beautiful” and other songs that celebrate the values of America. Following the interfaith celebration, attendees are welcome to mingle and enjoy culturally diverse hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for local food banks. The Board of County Commissioners of Brevard County, Florida has officially proclaimed November 25, 2019 to be United in Thanksgiving Day.
