The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will present music from Cuba to Argentina in a concert inspired by Latin America at 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 14.  ¡Caliente!, which is Spanish for “hot,” will be held at the Scott Center for the Performing Arts at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, 5625 Holy Trinity Drive in Suntree.  Passionate tangos, blazing mambos and pulsating congas will all be featured in the all-Latin ¡Caliente! program of favorites that includes Gershwin’s Cuban Overture and Bernstein’s West Side Story, along with dynamic orchestral works from contemporary Latin composers, including “Conga del Fuego” and Three Latin American Dances by Gabriela Lena Frank. Soprano, Amy Cofield joins the orchestra to sing Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos’s best known work: the soaring aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5.  Internationally known conductor and University of Florida educator, Laszlo Marosi will guest conduct the SCSO in the world premiere of Christopher Marshall’s “Streets of Old San Juan.” $25 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at the orchestra’s official Brevard ticket outlet, Marine Bank & Trust in Suntree.

Space Coast Symphony Orchestra artistic director, Aaron T. Collins, is enthusiastic about the playful rhythms, familiar dance tunes and fiery passion of the music in ¡Caliente!.

“There’s just something about the music of Latin America that makes you want to move,” said Collins. “This program really brings the sizzle.”
