BuildingResToolboxCaregiver_111615One Senior Place University will be presenting Building Your Resource Toolbox, a National Family Caregiver Month educational workshop, on Monday, November 16 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The program is specifically designed to help caregivers learn what resources they may need in order to help care for loved ones and understand how to navigate the complex maze of resources in the community.

Experts in areas such as care management, elder law, resource planning, financial planning and long-term care will be on hand to discuss pertinent caregiving issues and answer questions from workshop attendees during a Q&A session. Sponsors include LTC Advisors; The Law Offices of Hoyt & Bryan, LLC; AGED (Advocates & Guardians for the Elderly & Disabled); and the Cambridge Planning Group.

“Many caregiving resources exist in the Central Florida community, and this can be confusing and overwhelming for caregivers during the fact-finding process,” explains Emily Stowers, MSW, Aging Services Manager at One Senior Place in Altamonte Springs. “We want to help simplify this process and touch upon important points in order to get people thinking about the critical aspects of caregiving and what they need to know.

Some of the topics that will be covered during the workshop include:

  • Advocating for Your Loved One
  • Care Coordination Strategies
  • Coordinating Finances
  • Benefits Planning
  • Getting in the Know (“Resource Mining”)
  • Elder Law Planning
