American Speech-Language Hearing Association - Phone: 1-800-638-8255. Toll-free help line gives information on communication disorders and referrals to speech-language pathologists and audiologists around the country.
Benefits CheckUP - a service of the National Council on Aging - Benefits Checkup can access information on both local and federal level benefits and programs for which an older adult may be eligible. This website also includes a Benefits CheckUpRx service for saving money on prescription medications.
Consumer Information - about Long Term Care - consumer guide to planning, preparing and paying for long term care. Sponsored by the American Health Association and the National Center for Assisted Living.
Florida Health Finder - website provides listing of licensed providers and survey results of Florida nursing homes
Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs - Veteran advocacy assisting Florida's veterans, families and survivors to improve their health and economic well being.
Florida Association of Area Agencies on Aging - A team of eleven partners, which meet on a regular basis to share data, plan advocacy activities and design coordinated aging programs.
Florida Senior Safety Resource Center - provides information and resources on alternative forms of transportation, driving, knowledge and skills, and links to national organizations that address transportation.

Men's Health Network - a non-profit educational organization comprised of physicians, researchers, public health workers individuals and other health professionals - committed to improving the health and wellness of men. Mental Health and Aging - assisting older adults, their families and caregivers in obtaining mental health services specific to the needs of older adults.
National Aphasia Association - provides educational material, a newsletter, a directory of community support groups and a national network of volunteers who can discuss professional and social resources in their areas.
National Association of TRIADS, Inc. - TRIAD is a partnership of three organizations, law enforcement, senior citizens, and community groups whose purpose is to promote senior safety and reduce the unwarranted fear of crime that seniors often experience.
National Center on Elder Abuse - The source of information and assistance on Elder Abuse. The National Center on Elder Abuse, funded by the US Administration on Aging, is a gateway to resources on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse - a national association of researchers, practitioners, educators, and advocates dedicated to protecting the safety, security, and dignity of America's most vulnerable citizens.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - This federal agency develops and implements programs in chronic disease prevention. It provides fact sheets and guidelines (available printed and online) related to many diseases. Mayo Clinic Website - has a wealth of resources which are disease or condition specific
Medline Plus - includes links to different topics related to health including the issues of prevention and screening, medical conditions and treatments, and specific topics related to aging.
National Insitute of Arthirtis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases Information Clearinghouse - A branch of the National Institutes of Health. Provides information about diseases of the bones, joints, muscles, and skin.

American Board of Medical Specialties - Check the status of a physician's board certification
United States Department of Human Services - Hospital Compare - This tool provides you with information on how well the hospitals in your area care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions. This information will help you compare the quality of care hospitals provide. Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and organizations that represent hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations, other Federal agencies and the public.
Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. - this research and information company helps consumers find top doctors and hospitals, providing detailed information about their education, training and special expertise. Valuable information on outstanding hospitals is also available, since we believe that it is the top hospitals that attract the top doctors. Doctors do not and cannot pay to be selected and profiled as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
Telephone Preference Service - Remove your name from the mailing list of all companies that are members of the Direct Marketing Association. There is a small fee.

Florida Department of Financial Services - provides a wealth of information regarding a variety of questions related to insurance, financial institutions, etc.
Department of Business and Professional Regulation - regulating agency of some 200 licensee categories, ranging from electricians to real estate agents, from cosmetologists to professional boxers.

Professional Networking Organizations
Brevard Association of Human Services (BAHS) - is a networking organization of professionals in the human services industry, which meets monthly and focuses on education and networking. Meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Melbourne Rialto Hilton beginning at 11:30 a.m. RSVP on-line by the Thursday before the meeting - cost of attendance is $16.00 per person with reservation.
North Brevard Association of Medical Services (NBAMS) - meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Rockledge Country Club beginning at 11:30 a.m.. RSVP at 459-1804 by the Friday before the meeting - cost of attendance is $15.00 per person with reservation.
Seminole Health and Human Services Network (SHHSN) - meets the last Wednesday of each at the Heathrow Courtyard by Marriott at 135 International Parkway, Lake Mary, FL 32746. RSVP on-line.
