Wiley and the Hairy Man 2018

Hairy Man at Cocoa Campus of EFSC

Spooky Comedy for Anyone Who’s Ever Been Afraid of Anything

Just in time for Halloween, Wiley and the Hairy Man will be presented by theatre students on the Cocoa campus of Eastern Florida State College. Families can catch the play geared for young audiences on Friday, Saturday and  Sunday, October 19, 20 and 21 on the main stage of the Simpkins Fine Arts Center at 1519 Clearlake Road.  Directed by Jeanine Henry, Director of Theatre Arts for the Department of Performing and Visual Arts, the 70-minute spooky comedy by playwright Suzan Zeder is adapted from traditional southern folklore. Wiley must go into the swamp to build a hound house for his dog, but he’s sure the Hairy Man is lurking nearby. The rhyming play includes a chorus of mischievous swamp creatures who reflect the fears in Wiley’s head. Ultimately, Wiley is able to overcome the terrible Hairy Man and realize that he has the power in himself to face whatever fears may haunt him. A popular play with the five and up crowd, the story resonates with people of all ages.  The Friday and Saturday performances of Wiley and the Hairy Man are at 7:00 PM, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM. Youngsters are encouraged to attend in their Halloween costumes; the cast will be available for photos after the performance. General admission tickets are $5 at the door.
